Though were all being scattered, I know where my friends are
My daughters and I moved into Durban Way in 1982. I was widowed in 81 and as soon as I arrived here we felt very comfortable. They both attended Sarah Redfern Primary and High School and both graduated from university in teaching and nursing.
I was hospitalised for 11 days and my neighbours cared for the girls. They brought them into visit and even prepared the youngest girl for her school formal. They had many fun occasions; community cracker nights and involvement with the ‘Minto Monster. When the youth centre was first opened, staff and neighbours dressed up as Santa Claus and fairies and drove around in an old black ute, throwing lollies to the kids.
There are so many bad things that happened of late that the good things are often forgotten. When I remember Minto, its the good times that come to mind. The support, care and friendship will always be there. Even though the redevelopment means were all being scattered, I know where my friends are.
