Sandra Puchey & Paul Panapa
The removalists are coming tomorrow and we are all packed

Paul: We know all the neighbours. We’ve got our business, we have too many problems. We are moving tomorrow. We have been here about two-and-a-half years. It was a peaceful place — it was good. Up the street it is really bad. We had good neighbours. Meeting people in Minto has been good. You could get on the road at midnight it was really good. We probably had ups-and-downs you know. It’s what you make of it. You go looking for trouble, you get trouble. We just minded our own business. We did not have any fights or anything.

There’s too many drugs around. Junkies and when they are around, thieving goes on — you need money for drugs. Try anything you know. That happens everywhere. We have a big dog at the back so a lot of people would have known they would not get in if we weren’t here. We are going to Macquarie Fields, but it is not going to be a townhouse, but a flat with the privates. We might have a chance to buy it in a year or two — that would be good.

Sandra: I am going to miss it here.

Paul: You’re going to miss it?

Sandra: You haven’t been here that long, a few years. This is like our first home.

Paul: We came from New Zealand in 1999.

Sandra: I feel quite settled. Everyone here is good. Now they have moved in to another area — that’s good too that we are moving, it’s a change.

Paul: Where we will be living is all private housing, near schools, so where we are they are more likely to take care of their houses. The removalists are coming tomorrow and we are all packed. We’ve been ready for two months. The guy came over and showed us the house and said it would be ready in a couple of weeks so we got ready, the contractors did not get the work done.
