I moved to Minto in 1988 … I am of samoan
background and remember that there were only 3
other samoan families that lived in Minto when we
moved there. There are a lot more Polynesian
families living here now. My son was born and
grew up in Minto going to Sarah Redfern Public
School. He is now going to the Sarah Redfern High
School. There have been many changes to the area.
A lot of the Dept of housing homes are slowly
going and new private residential homes are been
built. Its good to see this growth in the
Community. I remember looking out the back door
to our home and seeing the hills of Bow bowing.
There were only horses, sheeps and cows that
could be seen along that hillside. Now there are
only houses and more houses. Gone are the days
when you would have farm animals in your
neighbourhood. I have good memories of Minto and
even though we have only just moved from the area
I still am able to go back and catch up with
neighbours and friends.
ive been in minto 4 almost 30yrs this is all i no

Lived in Minto for many years as a kid to early
teenager. Went to school and was mates with the
likes of Kevin and Ken McGuiness, Ronald Jones
and lots of others that went on to make careers
and live full lives. I am still in touch with
some from there and have many memories. Although
sad, I think the rebuild was ness. Thanks for the
memories.

Persons
I lived in Minto 10 years ago in Madeira way, I
miss it so much, but at the time I didnt realise
it. It wasnt a bad place, never had any trouble
what so ever. I miss my town house, it was a
pretty big house for housing commision. I used to
go past there every now and then, wondering when
they would finally knock it down. Then a few
years later i went past and it was gone. I felt
sad, as this place was the first real home I had
since being left a single mum. It was a chance to
rebuild my life and get back on my feet. I
appreciated this, and although at the time it was
tough, they were some of the best times and
memories ive had. Hope every one from minto has
settled into their new place and good luck and
best wishes to you all.

Hi all. I can’t believe how this has grown.
Regards to everybody. Maybe we can have a reunion
in a few years time with the theme ‘look out
we’re back’.The place just hasn’t been the same
since we left.
i would like to see more photo’s of minto because
i have such fond memories of the area having
spent my childhood there. It is great to see some
people have great pride for their community. I
still remember the bon fires for news years,
something like that will always have a special
place in my heart. Keep up the great work
