Well done on such an amazing project. Its almost
a shame theres not more stories.
I lived in Minto for all of my childhood - mostly
in Bowman Way and it was a lovely place to grow
up. There was always a sense of community
there. You could always go to a neighbour and be
safe - Neighbourhood watch was a matter of fact
not a label to put on the lettebox - a lot has
changed.
I have just come back from my sellout show off-
Broadway in New York and a six week sellout in
the world famous Speigletent in Edinburgh - and I
was a “houso” from Minto. Not bad eh!
Cheers!
We have received so much positive feedback about
the site, and people have sent us their stories.
We are adding this work onto the website this
week, so please check out some of the new stories.
It is great that people are missing minto this
much, why wouldnt they because it was a place
where you could get away with anything . Police
where to scared to come and and the home owner
occuppiers were terrorised day in every day, The
police couldnt do anything because the offenders
were MINORS,
A small number of houses in the stylus cresent is
still there and the Minors there are causing so
much trouble to people in Bhukati place and
surrounding area is unbelievable , Once again the
police cant do anything , ( just check the police
records)
In 1974 I was the first Youth Worker who worked
from the Community Centre. We had no centre so we
met in people’s homes and called them “Way
Groups” in the afternoon i would drive my organge
VW around and use a parachute and balls for after
school activities.
I remember those days with much warmth, the
people I met were amazing.
I am very happy about finding this site.
Cheers
